What We Do
The FFSA regulatory body plays a crucial role in not only maintaining the integrity and professionalism of the funeral industry but also in ensuring that the services provided meet the legislative and needs of the society it serves. Through its multifaceted role, the organization contributes significantly to the well-being of individuals and communities during one of the most challenging times of their lives.
Professionalise the Funeral Industry
FFSA aiming to protect consumers and promote ethical practices. It provides the industry with a single touch point for all stakeholders and contributors; it does so by establishing and enforcing high standards of service delivery to ensure that funeral services are conducted with dignity, respect and professionalism. Facilitate access to education, resources, support, and guidance to funeral service providers to help them improve their services and compliance with regulatory standards.
Advocate Member Association interests
FFSA is the industry Voice representing the interests of its Associate members and ensuring contribution and influence towards policy-making processes, ensuring that regulations are fair, practical, and beneficial.
Legislative Influence: Working with governmental bodies to influence and develop legislation that impacts the funeral industry.
Industry Standards, Guidelines and Best Practise
Developing guidelines that reflect the best practices in funeral services, including care for the deceased, support for grieving families, and the conduct of funeral ceremonies. Certifying professionals within the industry, such as funeral directors and embalmers, to validate their qualifications and expertise. Provide compliance oversight for industry participants.
Public Awareness, Education and Protection
Conducting public awareness campaigns to educate the community on the importance of funeral planning, the rights of consumers, and the ethical treatment of the deceased. for industry professionals to keep abreast of the latest practices, trends, and regulations. This includes awareness of professional development codes for individuals and organisations in the industry.
